Wednesday March 18, 2020 | COVID-19 is an evolving global, national, and statewide issue. At Big Brothers Big Sisters, the health and safety of our Littles, Bigs, families, staff, event participants, and partners is our first priority. All general updates will be reflected on our COVID-19 Updates page.
 
To assistant you, we’ve developed a list of resources specific for our Greater Virginia Peninsula Bigs, Littles, and Parents/Guardians.


Update 4.27 | Food Access in Newport News -  Starting Tuesday, Newport News Public Schools will start offering to-go dinners three days a week thanks to a partnership with World Central Kitchen. 

Hampton:
  • FAQ for Parents – Includes alternative Learning Plans for Hampton City Schools families
  • Alternative Meals Plans – For students in Hampton City Schools (Locations, times. Two packaged meals per day for anyone under 18, M-F 11AM-12:30PM)
  • Free Lunches for K-12 Students – From Mango Mangeaux in Hampton, VA; program runs until Friday, March 20
Newport News:
  • Newport News K-12 Schools – What You Need to Know
  • Newport News Academic Plan – Plans based on grade level
  • Information on Student Meals
Williamsburg Corona Virus Updates
  • General Information – Includes meal locations (both “grab and go” meals and community food resources), academic plans
York County Corona Virus Updates
  • General information – Includes extended home learning plan, meal information
GVP Community Organizations
  • United Way Virginia Peninsula Emergency Fund – The Emergency Fund has been set up to provide coordination of care for those affected by closures and unemployment, especially friends and neighbors who fall in the ALICE population
  • Youth Meal Distribution Sites
  • Virginia Peninsula Foodbank

Very good and interesting supporting program in that incredibly hard time. The idea of free lunches really can help a lot of people. I really hope for the best and that very soon all world can return to normal life again.
