In honor of National Mentoring Month, NBC 12 About Town Today hosting Big Brothers Big Sisters in studio to discuss the positive impact of mentoring on our community and in their own lives. According to the Search Institute, healthy, strong family relationships are foundational to young people’s growth, learning, and well being. Yet organizations across multiple sectors struggle to engage and partner with families.
Since our last conversation with Big Brothers Big Sisters, they have made efforts to connect with their Littles’ families through their first Keep Connected pilot program. Christa sits down with two program graduates along with their group facilitator to explore family relationship insights and the benefits to be gained when families come alongside each other to learn and grow. January is National Mentoring Month, and for over a century, Big Brothers Big Sisters has helped children realize their potential and build their futures. On Friday, January 3 Virginia This Morning hosted Ann Payes, the Executive Director of Big Brother’s Big Sisters Greater Richmond, Big Brother Chris Yakabisin, and Little Brother Sam as they share the mutual benefits of mentorship.
