2008 DUCK RACE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

*All positions listed are for Saturday, July 26 at Brown’s Island except where noted.

Duck Tagging (50) – Assist with applying numbers to 22,000 ducks at our warehouse: Monday, July 21; 3-8pm. 

Set-Up (10) – Assist with signs, tables, chairs, and other miscellaneous set-up activities: 16-years-old and up; 7-10am; full sun exposure.

Greeters (10) – Greet the general public and distribute event programs: 14-years-old and up; 10am-4pm; full sun exposure.

Children’s Games & Activities (30) – Assist children of all ages with carnival-type games and inflatable activities (moon walk, slide, climbing wall, obstacle course, etc.) while ensuring their safety: 16-years-old and up, or younger if accompanied by parent/guardian at all times; 10am-4pm; full sun exposure.

Table Attendant (4) – Maintain cleanliness of 25 tables in general seating area: 16-years-old and up; 11am-4pm; partial sun exposure.

Volunteer & Sponsor Tent Attendant (6) – Assist caterers with food and beverage presentation and help to maintain cleanliness of area: 16-years-old and up; 10am-4pm; partial sun exposure.

Race Course Marshall (12) – Help to ensure the public’s safety by standing along the inside of the race course and keeping the public away from the edge of the canal before and during the Duck Race: 18-years-old and up; 2-3:30pm; full sun exposure.

Finish Line Attendant (6) – Stand in the canal (3-4 ft. deep) at the finish line and assist with the winning ducks and then help with the retrieval of 22,000 ducks out of the canal: 18-years-old and up; wear old clothes and secure footwear, you will get wet; 2:30-3:45pm; full sun exposure.

Duck Retrieval Team (15) – Assist with retrieving 22,000 ducks out of the canal using laundry baskets: 14-years-old and up; wear old clothes and shoes, you will get wet; 2:45-4pm, full sun exposure.

Island Beautification (8) – Help us return Brown’s Island to its original state: 14-years-old and up; 4-6pm, full sun exposure.

Scrub-A-Dub-A-Duck Team (15) - Assist with rinsing and crating 22,000 ducks at our warehouse just minutes away from Brown’s Island: 14-years-old and up;  5-8pm.
