20th Annual Duck Race

The Quack was Back!
The 20th Annual Big Brothers Big Sisters Duck Race was everything it was “quacked” up to be, as over 9,000 attendees enjoyed a wide variety of entertainment, carnival games, bounce houses, crafts, food and over 15,000 ducks racing to win their owner a 2009 Volkswagen Rabbit! On the gloriously sunny and hottest Saturday in July, families enjoyed the juggling antics of Jonathan Austin, hulahooping with Hoop Action, the inspirational sounds of the Combined Youth Choirs and the bluesy-rock of Mo-DeBree, amongst others. Children were enthralled with the free games (with awesome free prizes) and jumping attractions, as well as roving entertainment by Ronald McDonald. Sherry Burnett of Richmond held the “lucky duck” that won her the VW Rabbit, provided courtesy of West Broad Volkswagen. Special thanks go to all those who made the 2009 Duck Race a HUGE success: All the volunteers, BBBS Board and Staff, Free Agents Event Management and our many sponsors and prize donors, especially Wal-Mart and Dominion Resources. Thanks also to everyone who purchased “ducks”.

We hope that you will join us on Saturday, July 31, 2010 for the 21st Annual Big Brothers Big Sisters Duck Race at Brown's Island. Not only will it be a lot of fun, but you will be helping to support quality one-on-one mentoring to our Greater Richmond and Tri-Cities children.
